What a loving tribute to our beloved Mrs. Rose Lalonde in the dedication of the elementary school building to her memory! Mrs. Bonnie Darbonne who was her secretary served as the M.C. and welcomed members of Mrs. Lalonde's family for this special morning. Msgr. Keith DeRouen of Our Lady Queen of Angels Catholic Church, gave the opening prayer and blessing, and OC was happy to have Ms. Anna Larriviere, Superintendent of Catholic Schools for the Diocese of Lafayette along with Ms. Blue Rolfes of the Diocese with us. Former principal Perry Fontenot said a few words about Mrs. Rose and all of the years they worked together. Mrs. Kathy Hebert presented the family with a book filled with pictures and special words about Mrs. Rose as given by teachers and staff. It was explained how a yellow rose bush was planted in front of the elementary building in Mrs. Rose's memory (her favorite flower) and then three other rose bushes were presented to the three children by Mrs. Bonnie to plant at their homes to always connect their family and the OC family. Coach Citron said that the elementary students painted rocks for Mrs. Rose and dismissed them to place their rocks around the rose bush in front of school. It was very special! We know that Mrs. Rose was certainly smiling down on her "babies" as she lovingly called her students. OC was so fortunate to have Mrs. Rose for over 40 years, and thank you to her family for sharing her with us. May she rest in peace!
