Seventh grade students in Mrs. Fontenot's Science class enjoyed a special activity today ... "How is a balloon like a cell membrane?" The mystery substances placed inside the balloons by Mrs. Fontenot were vinegar and vanilla extract. She asked the students to construct a chart with what they thought the substances were and to include supporting evidence. They were also to relate how the balloon acts as the cell membrane does ... allowing things to move from areas of higher concentration to areas of lower concentration. Great activity!
