"Service above Self" is driving Opelousas Catholic in 2017-18 and beyond! Mrs. Lucito's 6th grade Religion classes have been busy with a very special service project ... sewing tee-shirt dresses for underprivileged children in other countries. With the help of volunteer mothers and grandmothers, the students gathered and sewed skirts onto tee-shirts. For many, it was a first-time experience at a sewing machine! Although challenging, you can see by their concentration that they were very diligent, and their bright smiles showed their pride in the results. Even the boys ended up enjoying their stint as a "seamstress"! Mrs. Lucito and the students express their thanks to Mrs. Shirley Quebedeaux, Mrs. Courtney Gerace, Mrs. Rita Dupre, and Mrs. Marilyn Chachere who volunteered their time, machines, and expertise, guiding the students in gathering and sewing on a straight line. A beautiful project!
