Congratulations to Mrs. Lainie Manuel as Teacher of the Year for the middle and high school and to Mrs. Amber Guillory, Elementary Teacher of the Year! They are extra special and extra dedicated to the OCS students!
Mrs. Lainie Manuel earned her degree from UL-Lafayette in Health Information Management. After working for four years in health administration, she felt the calling to teach and completed the Alternative Teacher Education Program through UL. Mrs. Manuel is now in her 24th year of teaching, currently in her second year at OCS. She previously taught at Berchmans Academy, St. Ignatius, and the Academy of the Sacred Heart. At OCS, she teaches math classes and is curriculum coordinator. Mrs. Manuel and her husband enjoy spending time with family and friends, and she tries to find time for gardening, carpentry projects, hunting, and attending her daughters' volleyball and softball games.
Mrs. Amber Guillory joined us at OCS two years ago after teaching for four years at Palmetto Elementary where she also received the honor of Teacher of the Year! At Palmetto, she was a Leadership Team member and served as chairperson of the Positive Behavioral Interventions and Support. Here at OCS, Mrs. Guillory teaches fourth graders English Language Arts and Religion and is the 4-H sponsor for fourth grade. She helped to direct the recent Christmas Play as well. She holds a degree in Child and Family Studies and received certification for Early Childhood/Elementary Ed through "ITeach Louisiana". Mrs. Guillory and her husband are parishioners of St. Landry Catholic Church.
Opelousas Catholic is grateful to have these two exceptional ladies on staff!
